The one thing that will ensure that you become successful at achieving your fitness goals is, without a doubt, your habits.
Each day you should strive to be a bit better than you were before. Then, you rinse and repeat.
You do it again the next day. Then the day after that. Then after that.
You won’t always perform at your highest but make sure that you do show up to perform.
The habit of positive progress is the greatest habit to develop.
The habit of thinking in a positive manner is just as beneficial.
“The Secret” Explained
Ever wonder why the “Law of Attraction” works for some and not others?
It is because of the habit of positive thinking with the habit of “acting as if”.
You act as if you are the person you want to be.
And what does the person you want to be do?
He or she does the things that are necessary to achieve success.
And if you can continue this day in and day out?
Well, howdy-ho, I just explained “The Secret” in less time than the intro to the book.
You are Your Habits
A great habit compounded day after day will lead to great things and vice versa.
Going to the gym day after day will lead to an lean body. Eating a brownie day after day will lead to a brownie-like body.
Positive progress done habitually will always equal moving forward towards your goals.
Summer workout routines and New Year’s Resolution’s fail for the same reason. They don’t become habits. They become a wish list.
A true habit is one that is done day after day. That habit is done both mentally and physically.
Your physique is a showcase of your dedication to working out day to day. Your finances of your ability to consistently manage money correctly day to day.
Your relationships show the quality of person you are with those around you day to day. Your personality are the habits of thought you maintain day to day.
Habits Are Of Your Choosing
We are all creatures of habits, whether we be conscious of them or not.
Habits come from the actions you perform today. Make them of your choosing.
Don’t just react to what happens, instead choose to do an action that will lead to your goals.
Every successful individual will almost always have some quote attributed to them that has to do with their habits.
Warren Buffet and his famous saying that habits are chains that are too light to be felt until they are too heavy to be broken, for example.
Obsession Is A Habit
Ever heard that cheesy line that obsession is a word used by the lazy to define dedication?
While I don’t encourage you tattoo that on your arm, I hope that you are getting the underlying theme of what I am trying to get across.
Habits are what separates the winners from the losers, the successes from the failures, the have’s from the have-not’s.
Do yourself a favor and read this awesome book, “The Power of Habit” by Charles Duhigg. He explains all the details with science and all that other good stuff.
I’ll leave you with one of my favorite quotes from an athlete who has defied the odds, regardless of his antics outside of competition.
“There’s no talent here, this is hard work. This is an obsession. Talent does not exist, we are all equals as human beings. You could be anyone if you put in the time. You will reach the top, and that’s that. I am not talented. I am obsessed.” – Conor McGregor
